n a forested plateau it has stood for near 1000 years. Carved stone ramparts and high turrets perched atop a majestic precipice where the Tawar Rath (Forest Course, in the Common Language) tumbles into the sea. It is an enchanted place, surrounded on three sides by the ancient trees of The Weald. It’s face gently touched by the whispering mists from the twin falls of Sindi Halta (River Leap), while the living waves of Gaea Ned Hith (Sea of Mists) boom, like the heartbeat of the world, against the jagged rocks at its feet. Colorful silken banners are gently lifted by the breezes of the southern shores of Ilha Avore (enchanted Isle). This great citadel called Caer Wyvernweald, a sentinel standing watch on the southern slopes below the high peaks and crags of Amlug Orod (Dragon Mountain), its beacon fire a shining light for the entire world to see.
This place has long been the home of one of the oldest families of the south. While all are welcome, for the most part, the inhabitants of the Castle and it’s surrounds are a mix of Elvin and Human. Though it is a place deeply rooted in the arcane arts, not all of the inhabitants of Caer Wyvernweald are practitioners of sorcery and magic. It is a fact that many a great mage was born or has studied there, but the Caer has also been the home of many a brave warrior, clever bard or adept healer, and even the occasional rogue may trace his or her beginnings to the these mossy ramparts.
The library of the Caer is one of the largest in the known world and attracts many a scholar.
The citadel is also the seat of The Wyvern Council, a group of influential leaders, scholars, seers, and others who meet on a regular basis and in times of need to discuss the ways of the world at large.
It is rumored, though it has never been proven, that the council has at it’s disposal a secret organization and through this covert shadow society has, for numerous years, influenced the fortunes of many and the direction of the world beyond it’s walls. It is also said that during the reign of the tyrant Avernus some 300 years ago, that the council was able to warn and provide sanctuary to many of the persons and families that would have otherwise been deported to the northern wilderness. It is a fact that the Caer was diametrically opposed to the politics and policies of Avernus and because of this opposition, many suspect that it was Caer Wayvernweald and it’s allies that kindled the spark and fanned the flames of revolution that lead to the downfall of his evil regime.
